The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers is a worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to teaching classical yoga. The original San Francisco Center was established in 1957 by Swami Vishnu-Devanandaji. Staff and teachers are volunteers working for world peace.
This organization teaches methods to attain physical, mental and spiritual health based on Vedanta philosophy. Our teaching staff is fully certified. We offer daily drop-in hatha yoga classes for all levels, daily satsang/meditation/kirtan, as well as courses in hatha yoga, meditation, Vedanta philosophy, stress-management, and other related spiritual topics. We offer cultural programs such as musical concerts, and guest speakers are frequently invited.
Our open classes accommodate beginning through advanced students and consist of savasana (relaxation), pranayama (breathing exercises), Sun Salutations (warm-up exercises) and 12 asanas (postures). Classes are 90 minutes, with the exception of our beginners’ drop-in classes, which are 1 hour.
YOUR FIRST DROP-IN CLASS IS FREE. FREE OPEN HOUSE – 1st Sunday of every month.
